Our private, WLPOA-Sub 1 beach club park is located at 5700 Putnam, West Bloomfield, on the southeastern shore of Walnut Lake. It gives residents of our subdivision the chance to enjoy many luxuries of lake living whether they pay the price to live on the water or not.
The Township of West Bloomfield holds this property in a trust for us to use and care for. Anyone who lives within our boundaries has access, as long as their accounts are paid and simple association rules are followed.

The Board meets once a month year-round. This group also holds the General membership meetings in May and September at the clubhouse. If you are a member who likes to be engaged, the board welcomes you to run for a trustee position. There are also many opportunities to help with committees.
Gifted!
Back in 1932, Albert and Annie Whitmer actually “gave” this beach club to our neighborhood as a gigantic gift!
Originally, the land had been part of their family farm. Their son, Claude, used some of the land to construct many of the homes in our neighborhood. The family also sold some of the property to other developers.
When the depression struck, one of the developers had to relinquish property back to the family. Our beachfront property was one of these areas. Instead of re-selling the lots, the family created our private beach club and helped established the association for us all to enjoy.
Claude Whitmer’s last living son, Walter, resided until recently on Inkster. Walter fervently acted as a steward to protect this special asset as a member of the Board of Trustees. Like his parents and other family members, he also worked hard to make improvements in the neighborhood. In September 2015, Walter passed away at the age of 89. We will always be grateful for his dedicated care and service to our community.
Six Whitmers still call our neighborhood home. Two of them are now involved with the association to help preserve the generous gift we received from their family.
